Stream 4AD Debut 'After The End' On NPR

The anticipated new album by Merchandise, After The End, is now streaming in full via NPR.  

The first 4AD release by the Tampa five-piece, the record was written and recorded at the band's home in early 2014, and mixed by Gareth Jones.  Featuring singles 'Little Killer', 'Enemy', and Pitchfork's Best New Track 'Green Lady', the ten track album will be officially released next week (25th August).  The band have also recently announced extensive UK, European and US tour dates, starting on the 7th September in Gainesville, Florida...

'Green Lady' Premiered By Stereogum, European Tour Detailed

Ahead of the release of After The End, the new album from Merchandise and their 4AD debut, Stereogum have today premiered brand new track 'Green Lady'.

Describing the track as "sinfully lush", it marks another step in Merchandise's progression towards their "twisted pop record", as detailed by lead singer Carson Cox in NME earlier in the year.  It is accompanied by an animation, using the Frank Haines' sculpture from the After The End album cover.

Today, Pitchfork premiere the video for Merchandise's new single 'Enemy', taken from the band’s 4AD debut After The End.

Inspired by American greats Stan Brakhage, Kenneth Anger and William Eggleston, filmmaker Tim Saccenti (Depeche Mode, Flying Lotus, Animal Collective) said the goal was to transform “the thick southern tones and ripe textures of deep Florida into a dream-state visual backdrop for the song.”

New Album This August, Watch 'Little Killer' Video

Merchandise have just announced from their website that their new album, After The End, will be released on 4AD on August 25th.

Like their albums before them, After The End was recorded and produced by the band, this time over a six-month period in the house they share in Tampa. A real achievement, showing what bands can achieve themselves.

The first track to be aired from the album, ‘Little Killer’, has just been posted online. A pop song about war that was inspired by the poet Wilfred Owen, Carson also made a brilliant video using a green screen to accompany it...
