Since moving to California in the mid-'90s, Ivo had become a fan of The Paladins: a hard-charging roots-rock band who'd been one of the West Coast's most dependably great live attractions for close to 20 years. After a particularly memorable show at the House Of Blues on New Year's Eve 1995, he approached the band about the prospect of cutting a live album for 4AD. The ferocious Million Mile Club was the result.
