Grimes - Grimes Shares Official Video For 'Go'
Grimes : Grimes Shares Official Video For 'Go'
27th August 2014

'Go' ft. Blood Diamonds, the new track from Grimes, now has a stunning video.

Following its live debut at Governor's Ball in New York earlier in the summer, Claire then gave the track away to fans through her SoundCloud channel, calling it "our summer jam". Continuing the track's collaborative theme, she enlisted her brother Mac to work alongside her as co-director for the video. Using the alias of Roco-Prime, they traveled around California last month to create an ambitious sci-fi homage to Dante's Inferno.

Speaking of the video, Claire says; "It's our take on Dante's inferno. The circles of hell reflect more contemporary issues though.  We shot a bunch at the salton sea which is basically an apocalyptic wasteland filled with dead fish because of human carelessness, the bullet hole hallway a la korn freak on a leash etc etc. If you look closely you can find clues.  Haha, but in the usual fashion it is also abstract enough to just be a trippy visual accompaniment to the song."

The video begins with David Hayter reading the opening lines of the Inferno. A screenwriter famed for the early X-Men movies and the film adaptation of Alan Moore's Watchmen, he's also a prominent voice actor in the Metal Gear Solid game series - "My work has been super inspired by Xmen and the metal gear games lately, so I was very honoured to have David read the opening lines of the inferno," Claire said.

Grimes will perform at Jay-Z’s Made In America Festival in Philadelphia this weekend (30th-31st August). She's also working on the follow-up to 2012's breakthrough album, Visions, which recently earned high-praise from Pitchfork who named her song 'Oblivion' the #1 'Song of The Decade So Far'.

Finally, Claire can also be found gracing not one but two covers (one a prestigious Richard Prince Instagram tribute) of the Autumn/Winter edition of bi-annual fashion bible, POP, which is on sale now.
