Efterklang - Efterklang Announce Details of The Ghost Of Piramida Film
Efterklang : Efterklang Announce Details of The Ghost Of Piramida Film
31st October 2012

Following the release of fourth album Piramida, Efterklang add another string to their bow with The Ghost Of Piramida, a film by Danish director Andreas Koefoed, that documents the Danish trio's visit to the former Russian mining town.

Accompanied by their taciturn and not visibly impressed Russian polar bear guard, the group goes on a treasure hunt in the empty buildings of the abandoned town, while the narrator, the former Piramida-citizen Alexander, takes us back to a bygone era, when Piramida flourished and the immigrant Russian miners and their families lived in a Soviet parallel society far from the horrors of their homeland.

The Ghost Of Piramida premieres in November at IDFA in Amsterdam and CPH:DOX in Copenhagen - two of the world's most renowned documentary film festivals. The film has been nominated in the Best Music Documentary category at both festivals.

For more information about the screenings in November go here and here.

Plans for further screenings have yet to be announced.  An official Trailer for The Ghost of Piramida will be revealed soon. Andreas Koefoed also directed the short Piramida album trailer, as below.

Efterklang are no strangers to the film world. In 2011, a 50-minute documentary and performance film, An Island, was made in collaboration with French director Vincent Moon. The band developed the Private-Public Screening system allowing anyone to host free entry screenings of An Island to a minimum audience of five. In two months, 1,178 Private-Public Screenings were hosted around the world. An Island is available on DVD and as download via http://www.anisland.cc
