With less than a month to go before the release of their long-awaited new album Desire Lines (recorded in Portland, US with producer Tucker Martine), Camera Obscura have revealed another song, ‘Fifth In Line To The Throne’.
A sonic foil to recent single ‘Do It Again’, ‘Fifth In Line To The Throne’ sees the Glasgow five-piece in full balladeer mode and features backing vocals from Neko Case.

When Efterklang presented their fourth album, Piramida, for the first time to a sold out audience at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra last year, the evening’s success gave the Danish act the opportunity to take this unique performance around the globe. Dubbed The Piramida Concerts, and with orchestral arrangements by fellow Dane Karsten Fundal and New York composer Missy Mazzoli, it has been staged fifteen times, with sold out performances at London’s Barbican with the Northern Sinfonia and New York’s Metropolitan Museum concert hall with The Wordless Music Orchestra.
LSXX, the 20th anniversary edition of Last Splash by The Breeders is released today as a deluxe 3CD boxset.
LSXX will be available as a limited-edition, seven-disc vinyl box set*, and a three-CD package. Many of the recordings included in the set have never been released before, and for other tracks, it will be the first time they receive a worldwide release. Cover and individual sleeve artwork has been created by renowned British graphic designer Vaughan Oliver, who described it as “an irreverent conceptual and visual re- imagining” of his original Last Splash artwork. This week sees the release of Deerhunter’s fifth album, Monomania.
Monomania began life when a new Deerhunter line-up (with additions of bassist Josh Mckay and guitarist Frankie Broyles) reconvened in January 2013 at Rare Book Studio in Brooklyn, New York. Produced by Nicholas Vernhes and Bradford Cox, Monomania finds the group recalling its scrappy punk aesthetic; a perfect nocturnal garage rock album full of the layered and hazy vintage guitar sounds that define them.
Having only played a handful of stunning shows since the February release of no world, inc. can now confirm the first leg of their debut North American Tour along with their first ever show in Japan.
Following a special appearance at the Downtown Festival in New York City, they'll kick things off a couple weeks later with some West Coast performances starting in late May that will take them to the Midwest and Toronto, before immediately flying to across the world to play their first ever date in Japan.
A second leg of North American shows will happen later this summer, more details on them to come soon.
