This week sees the release of Deerhunter’s fifth album, Monomania.
Monomania began life when a new Deerhunter line-up (with additions of bassist Josh Mckay and guitarist Frankie Broyles) reconvened in January 2013 at Rare Book Studio in Brooklyn, New York. Produced by Nicholas Vernhes and Bradford Cox, Monomania finds the group recalling its scrappy punk aesthetic; a perfect nocturnal garage rock album full of the layered and hazy vintage guitar sounds that define them.
Having only played a handful of stunning shows since the February release of no world, inc. can now confirm the first leg of their debut North American Tour along with their first ever show in Japan.
Following a special appearance at the Downtown Festival in New York City, they'll kick things off a couple weeks later with some West Coast performances starting in late May that will take them to the Midwest and Toronto, before immediately flying to across the world to play their first ever date in Japan.
A second leg of North American shows will happen later this summer, more details on them to come soon.
On June 17th, 4AD will release With Love, the third album from Zomby.
Divided into two volumes, the 33-track triple vinyl/double CD moves seamlessly between the dance floor and after-hours emotional introspection, serving as a love letter to the soulful dance music of his past. Listen to 'Soliloquy' here or below.

4AD are delighted to welcome SOHN to the fold.
First appearing late last year, SOHN (pronounced Sonn) has wasted no time in making a name for himself, both on record and live. Having escaped the lonely nighttime streets of London for the mountainous landscapes of Austria the previous year, SOHN's distinctive sound emerged naturally as he found inspiration in the contrasts between the two places he has called home. Considered and emotive, the results are astounding.
Informed by Vienna’s rich legacy of electronic music, SOHN creates a sound that blends his haunting vocals with a backdrop of analogue drum machines and synths, which makes nods to the past, but always forges forward into the new. Aside from emphasising the soulfulness of his voice, his lyrics expertly play with the phonetics of language, wrapping his sonorous vocals around the gaps between sentences and lending those words more prominence.
Camera Obscura have revealed further details of their fifth studio album, Desire Lines, set for release on June 3rd/4th via 4AD.
Desire Lines started life in 2011 - shortly after the release of their 4AD debut My Maudlin Career – as demos put together in singer Tracyanne Campbell’s flat. Revisiting those songs a couple of years later, the band made the decision to decamp from their native Glasgow to Portland, Oregon to work with GRAMMY-nominated producer Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Spoon, My Morning Jacket), enlisting Neko Case and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James to contribute vocals along the way.
