Magical Was The Night
08 May 09
Last sunday's Dark Was The Night Live at New York's Radio City Music Hall was a fantastic night, successfully bringing together some of the artists from the recent 4AD compilation, all in the name of good music and the AIDS charity, the Red Hot Organization.
Performing on the night (in order of appearance) were The Dirty Projectors, My Brightest Diamond, The National, David Sitek, David Byrne, Bon Iver, Feist and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. And yes, as the eagle eyed spotted, St. Vincent did indeed make it on to the stage for the encore. You can read more about the show here, here, here, here and here.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the artists and staff involved and, of course, the thousands of you who attended the show. You all played your part in helping to make this unique event such a memorable night. We'd also like to extend a special thanks to Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner and John Carlin for putting both the event and the compilation together with such gusto and dedication - it was well worth your efforts and we thank you.
