Our reissue of Gene Clark's 1974 masterpiece No Other - one of the American singer-songwriter and Byrds founding member’s finest works - is finally released next month on 8th November. Coinciding with what would have been his 75th birthday, we've both remastered the album at Abbey Road and mixed all the studio tapes to create the ultimate version of this cult album.
Being released on CD, limited double CD, LP and a limited deluxe boxset, it's available to pre-order now from geneclark.4ad.com.
You can learn more about the release here.
To further whet appetite ahead of next month's release, two more outtakes from the recording sessions have been released today - the second take Gene attempted of album title track, 'No Other', & their third attempt at the epic 'Some Misunderstanding'. Recorded at The Village Recorder studios in Los Angeles with a stellar group of musicians, these session tracks were all recorded in one go and contain no studio trickery. A total of 18 outtakes appear across the deluxe editions of this reissue and are all previously unheard. The tracks were premiered by Dangerous Minds here.
On 6th November, ahead of the release, we’ll be hosting a very special evening at Everyman Cinema Kings Cross in London celebrating the album and its legacy. This event will give fans the first ever opportunity to enjoy the record in stunning 5.1 surround sound (mixed by Neil Wilkes and B. J. Cole), along with a Q&A with eminent British journalists about the record’s lasting impact, and a 30 minute screening of Paul Kendall’s The Byrd Who Flew Alone: The Making of No Other. All attendees will also receive a limited edition poster and flexi disc. You can buy tickets here.
