Liima - 'Roger Waters' Video
Liima : 'Roger Waters' Video
10th March 2016

Liima – the Nordic quartet formed by Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö plus Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen and Rasmus Stolberg of Danish act Efterklang – explore their dark side in their video for new single ‘Roger Waters’, which has gone online today.

Not for the faint-hearted, the video was directed by Plastic Zoo and feels more like a miniature horror film.  It is focused on a hidden menace, striking fear into a cast of unusual characters who find salvation from an unlikely hero.

"You know that feeling when you switch on the TV late at night and catch the last few minutes of a film and you think, “wow, that was awful and made absolutely no sense!” but you still wanna watch the whole thing? Yeah, that....” – Plastic Zoo

‘Roger Waters’ is the third track to be lifted from Liima’s new album ii.  Their debut release features songs written during week-long artist residencies in Finland, Berlin, Istanbul and Madeira.  Each place influenced the sound, sometimes literally through field recording and sampling.  Every residency ended with a live concert, performing the freshly written songs in front of an audience.

During those residencies Liima (meaning ‘glue’ in Finnish) utilised a simple live set-up - synthesizers, drum samplers, vocals, effects pedals and a bass guitar – and drawing upon their creative dynamic, playing by intuition like a collective conscience, they were able to shape improvised sketches and ideas into songs.  That same approach was adopted in the studio; recording the album in just three days at Vox-Ton Studio, Berlin.

The first pressing of ii will be available on neon green vinyl.  You can pre-order from the 4AD Store here.
