The Lemon Twigs - New Song 'The Fire' & North American Tour Dates
The Lemon Twigs : New Song 'The Fire' & North American Tour Dates
14th August 2018

Today, The Lemon Twigs release ‘The Fire’, an expansive six-minute track.  This is the third song released from the 15-track opus that was written, recorded, produced and mixed by brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario in their home in Long Island.

Michael says of the song, “With any musical, you’ve gotta first believe that people breaking into song every five minutes is normal—there are no rules. You’ve gotta believe it in order to enjoy the music and absorb the weight of the lyrics. The ‘why’ is just because it gets you to the next part. It’s supposed to make you feel something. Go To School is not meant to be taken literally outside of the context of the art. It’s what they call a ‘movie for your ears,’ and this scene is called The Fire.”

Go To School tells the coming-of-age story of Shane, a pure of heart chimpanzee raised as a human boy.  Todd Rundgren and D’Addario’s mother Susan Hall play Shane’s parents.  The album also features contributions from Jody Stephens (Big Star) and their father Ronnie D’Addario.  Previously released album closer ‘If You Give Enough’ reveals the moral of the story: give a lot of love without expecting it in return and you won’t be corrupted by the hate around you.

'Go To School' by The Lemon Twigs is available to pre-order here.

The Lemon Twigs emerged in 2016 with their debut LP Do Hollywood, which was praised by Rolling Stone for “toting hooky songs that stand out for their intricate arrangements and delectable melodies” and the Guardian who declared it “a triumph of detailed richness and sumptuous melody, of anthemic chants and winsome ballads." The band quickly earned fans in Elton John, Questlove, and Jack Antonoff among many others, the latter of whom said, “Prediction: The Lemon Twigs will usher in a new phase of rock.” Since then, the D’Addarios have released the 6-track Brothers of Destruction EP and one-off single ‘Foolin’ Around’ / ‘Tailor Made’.

Today, The Lemon Twigs announce a headlining North American tour beginning in mid-October and running through February 2019.  Ahead of these dates, the band will join Arctic Monkeys on their UK and European tour and two nights at LA’s Hollywood Bowl, in addition to sold out fan shows at NYC’s Baby’s All Right and the Masonic Lodge, LA.  Tour dates are below.  Fans can get exclusive pre-sale access to all to-be-announced tour dates later in the year by pre-ordering the record via the band’s website: thelemontwigs.com
