Bartees Strange - 'Lie 95'
Bartees Strange : 'Lie 95'
10th July 2024

Today, Bartees Strange returns with new single 'Lie 95'.

From its explosive chorus and soaring vocals centering on all consuming passion, “Lie 95” heralds a new era for the uniquely genre-defying artist. The song is paired with a captivating video directed by Vincent Martell & Jordan Phelps of VAM STUDIO (Jamila Woods, Chance the Rapper, Esperanza Spalding) starring Strange as both himself and his otherworldly companion. Kacy Hill and Charlene Gibbs contribute additional vocals on the track, which is co-produced by Strange and notcharles with additional production from longtime creative collaborator Graham Richman.

Bartees Strange says of 'Lie 95' - “This song is about searching for love all across the Northeast corridor (I-95) - my universe.  I’m thinking of Love in a broad way: partners, friends and community.  This one’s for the highway…and everything I meet through it.

Released in June 2022, Farm to Table (4AD) is the second album from Bartees Strange and includes the singles “Wretched,” “Heavy Heart,” “Cosigns,” and “Hold the Line.” Where his 2020 debut record Live Forever introduced the experiences and places that shaped Strange (Flagey Brussels, Mustang Oklahoma), Farm to Table zeroed in on the people—specifically his family and those closest to him—on his journey so far. The album secured Strange’s status as one of the most buzzed-about artists of the year, earning best-of nods from the likes of The New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR Music, and many more. In the time since, he has supported Boygenius, Clairo, and The National on tour, and been featured on multiple popular TV and film soundtracks including Apple TV’s The New Look and A24’s I Saw the TV Glow alongside Caroline Polachek, Sloppy Jane ft Phoebe Bridgers, and yeule.
