Liima - New Track '513'
Liima : New Track '513'
23rd February 2016

Tatu Rönkkö, Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen and Rasmus Stolberg – collectively known as Liima – have offered another taste from their forthcoming album ii, set for release on 18th March.  ‘513’ can now be heard online via Soundcloud and Spotify, below.

Originally composed in Berlin, ‘513’ follows in the footsteps of album track ‘Amerika’ (watch the video here, or below) and refers to the date 13th May, the date Liima member Rasmus got married.  The song is inspired by an ancient Hawaiian wedding ceremony and befriending George Clooney’s personal assistant on a golf course.

Meaning ‘glue’ in Finnish, Liima’s debut release features songs written during four week-long artist residencies in Finland, Berlin, Istanbul and Madeira.  Each place influenced the sound, sometimes literally through field recording and sampling, every residency ended with a live concert, performing the freshly written songs in front of an audience.  During those residencies the four utilised a simple live set-up - synthesizers, drum samplers, vocals, effects pedals and a bass guitar – and drawing upon their creative dynamic, and playing by intuition like a collective conscience, they were able to shape improvised sketches and ideas into songs.  That same approach was adopted in the studio; recording the album in just three days at Vox-Ton Studio, Berlin.
