Last year, Big Thief's Adrianne Lenker released two new albums, songs and instrumentals. The albums received an incredible reception, appearing on many year-end lists and propelling Lenker to make her solo television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last week. Today, she shares a new video for ‘forwards beckon rebound’, a track off of songs. Directed by V Haddad and Adam Gunderscheimer and shot at Wild Heart Ranch in Joshua Tree, it focuses on Lenker as she’s moved to dance in the failing light of the setting sun.

Praise for songs and instrumentals

"Spread across two albums that function as one stunning piece of music" - Pitchfork (8.8/10)
“Lenker has produced a folk album which could sit amongst the best from her forebears.” - The Line Of Best Fit (9/10)
"One of the most cohesive, decorous albums of solo acoustic music in recent memory." - DIY (4.5/5)
“A soothing balm.” - NME ****
"Beautiful solo offering, Lenker's most unguarded album yet." - Uncut (8/10)
"A tonic for the soul" - i ****
“It’s quite extraordinary.” The Independent *****
“We hear acoustic guitar, her voice, the sound of the cabin and whatever bugs and birds happen to be in the background of the poetic paintings she sings. The intimacy is magnetic.” NPR Music
“Like Neil Young in the mid-early Seventies, each one of Lenker’s personal peaks, be it 2017’s tour de force Capacity, or 2019’s ethereal U.F.O.F., turns out to be yet another stepping stone towards something revelatory." Rolling Stone
